The first time, me and my family were on the northern coast of Sardinia.
An island of incredible beauty with an emerald green sea or transparent blue, white rocks is always on the list of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. It is no coincidence that my friend chooses every year to make a holiday always in a different place in Sardinia. Surely because the four sides of the island give different emotions.
We found our accommodation in one of the apartments overlooking the sea, inserted in a natural environment, in the Baia Santa Reparata. Here the wind is blowing non-stop, so you do not need air conditioning even in the hottest months of the year.
The most relaxing thing in our apartment was to stay with the window open. In short to hear the sound of the sea and crashing waves, the most evocative sounds of nature.
Baia Santa Reparata is located a few kilometers from Capo Testa. Actually a small peninsula that overlooks the Bocche di Bonifacio and is artificially connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Therefore along there are two beaches, one on the left and one on the right side.
At the top of the Gallura granite rocks there is a beacon of fundamental importance for navigation, as well as a refuge of the heart and soul. Once parked the car, we took the nature trail that is located around the lighthouse to admire the giant rocks and observe Corsica from the other side.
Just three kilometers from our apartment is the historic center of Santa Teresa di Gallura, a place colored by craft shops and very crowded in the evening hours. Enjoy an aperitif and listen to music in one of the most fashionable bars such as Il Baretto which boasts a menu with more than 100 cocktails.
Going down the steps from the main square of the village, the beach of Rena Bianca, awaits us with its clear waters, with a soft and white sand, which on the shoreline takes on pink reflections, thanks to tiny fragments of coral.
Visiting one or more beaches a day in the Gallura coast is a very stimulating and invaluable thing for me.
Typical Sardinian dinner in the local farms
As the sun sets, we are looking for the local farm for a typical Sardinian dinner with zero-kilometer ingredients and the famous porceddu. A fixed price menu served in a rustic and comfortable setting nestled in the countryside of Santa Teresa di Gallura.
A day boating on the crystal-clear sea in the Archipelago of La Maddalena
Also from this village opens the panorama offered by the islands of the famous archipelago. As a result we took a boat trip to discover the wonderful places.
Spargi Island, Budelli, Caprera, Santa Maria and La Maddalena.
Most noteworthy, a boat trip with two special stops to dive into the crystal clear waters. The first in the Cala Santa Maria, and the second in the beautiful Cala Corsara. Big and small we marveled at the splendor of this beach on the Island of Spargi. In the afternoon a visit to the historic center and shopping along the narrow streets of the small village La Maddalena.
In conclusion in all travel souvenirs can not miss, so there are many things to buy typically Sardinian. From objects such as fabrics, ceramics, goldsmithery, to foods such as cheeses, sweets, cured meats, honey and, last but not least, wines. Artisans and artists of Sardinian crafts will leave you speechless and you will return home with suitcases fuller than before.
What is your favorite place in the paradise of Sardinia?
